Hey All,

Just noticed on our 2015 CD that the clock tends to do a complete sweep around 4 out of 5 times starting, the thing just spins around to the current time, I would think the clock runs even when the CD isn't running. Is this a normal thing? its almost as if it stops then needs to adjust itself once started again.

They all do that. The clock turns off when the main system shutdown happens - about 15 minutes after the last door is closed, lock is locked, whatever. Why leave it running if there isn't anyone to see it? When you power on the car again (opening the door will do it..) it resets itself to the current time. I haven't quite figured out the dancing hands routine since it seems as if it sometimes passes the current time, then stops somewhere and backs up to it - but it's amusing at least to watch.

I think it syncs with the GPS. The time is always perfect. I guess it needs the GPS to be on to know what time it is.

I believe you're right - but strangely - it doesn't know to change time zones when you pass from one to another.. with the GPS you think it should know that. My phone knows it.. it's a bit of a PITA to poke around looking for the time zone setting..

The clock is a stepper motor driven by the software, not a true clock as we are used to.

I think it's actually 3 stepper motors - one for each hand. It's a "clock" since it has hands, numbers and tells time. How it's done really doesn't make it not a clock. If you want I guess you could call it a digital-to-analog time display..
