Default 958 Cayenne S p1359 p1363

Hi. Now my 958 started to act up
Wife was driving the car a week ago and got check engine light.I scanned with my iCarsoft porsche scanner and cylinder 1 misfire error as well as P1359 (Valve lift control cylinder 1) and p1363 (Valve lift control cylinder 3).I can feel the engine shaking and misfiring even though the cyl 1 misfire error did not come back but P1359 and 1363 stayed on and got the check engine light again after a few days.
This is the vehicle that had a famous camshaft adjusters bolts braking up while driving and Porsche now has a recall for that.I was fixed by my friend across the street since Porsche USA refused to cover it after I took it to a dealer and he performed an engine check and said valves are ok and not bent.
Can it be related? I know its hard to tell without connecting PIWIS but perhaps someone had a similar issue on porsche 48.02 engine. Thanks in advance.

Sure - it could be related. If the valves contacted each other - that might prevent one from travelling as far as the valve lifter wanted - which could have damaged it.

Without some elementary tests it will be hard to tell.

Can you give us a link to your original thread so we have some idea what happened?

I do not remember if i had a topic on that subject since it happened exactly a year ago. Its a famous camshaft veriocam bolts issue they have a huge discussion on 6speedonline. Basicly bolts on both camshaft adjusters broke while car was running. Porsche did not have recall for that yet. Took it to a dealer after talking to porsche usa. They said they did test and valves are ok even though i was sceptical how can you do it when timing chain is off. Bought both adjusters and my friend installed them along with setting up timing since i bought timing adjustment set. Car was driving fine for over 6 month even though there was some hesitation at idle not so obvious though. Afrer i changed spark plugs i got misfire cylinder 1 as well. Not sure if its related.

UPDATE!
Put an engine flush let the car idle for 20 min.Changed the oil to Mobil1 0w-40 for German cars and all errors are gone.Weird.Must have remembered those engines are very sensitive to oil level (even though it was fine) and oil quality. Will be changing oil every 3-4K from now on, screw the recommended time by Porsche. The last thing those guys want is to have their engines running fine after warranty expires and not making us pay for all those expensive repairs!

I did the last oil change at the local shop assuming the used mobil1 synth, but aparently not. As soon as i used engine flush and fresh oil all errors were gone idle is way better no misfire and no lift controls errors Will inspect cylinders with boroscope though just in case.
thx for all the help.

How many miles since you did flush oil change ? And problem has not returned
have you found all the bolts that snapped.

really both banks snapped at the same time

Drove for 150 miles already and all good (keeping my fingers crossed) . Yes we found all the bolts looks like they snapped simultaniously so all were noticable. I stongly recommend everyone yo change oil a lot more often since there is no oil dip stick and i do not trust electronic one bit since it says even in the manual that engine consumes 1.5l of oil every 1000km
