Default Time to get a new Cayenne? Need Advice

Dear Enthusiasts,

I own a 2012 Cayenne V6 Base with 146K miles. The car has been running fine with some minor repairs to the breather valve and right wheel bearing last year.

Yesterday I brought it in to replace the blower motor and my friendly mechanic advised me that at 160K miles, problems start cropping up and that I should get rid of the car (get another with lower miles)

With that, is this sound advise?

Please advise and thanks in advance.

Les, given that you've accumulated 146K in the last 5-6 years with little or no issues, I would say that you've done very well and have nothing to worry about. If you're fed up with the car and are looking for change, that would be another discussion.

Yes, wear and tear is a fact that cannot be avoided, but it can be prolonged with regular maintenance. There are many members on this forum who have exceeded 200K on their Cayennes; as I highly doubt that the factory has installed a timer that will commence self-destruction after 160K...

I would agree with Andy E. on the 955 and 957 side they have plenty of cayennes way over 160k some are 300k plus. Yes regular maintenance costs will happen but think of the cost of a new car vs what you spent on wheel bearings. If you have taken good care of it there is no reason why you can't see 200k with minimal headaches.

Oh, yeah, I know exactly what he's talking about - the magic 160,000 mile mark. Stuff starts wearing out and breaking on any vehicle at about 50,000 miles. From that point on, it's just a matter of whether the car is worth saving given the needed repair or if you're ready for a change. I think any part is just as likely to break at 100k miles as it is at 160k.
