Default Let's not forget the VW Atlas

We saw a ton of VW Atlas' in Australia a few weeks ago. I would think, if they used the Tiquan and Touareg to model the Macan and Cayenne there is a 3rd row seat holding Porsche SUV on the horizon.

I've yet to drive an Atlas, but the ones I've seen seem decent. The MQB platform is also shared with the Porsche Macan. The VW MSB platform underpins the Panamera (and an upcoming Bentley). But the '19 Cayenne uses the Audi-based MLBevo platform, also found in the Touareg and Q7. That and they're no longer marketing the Touareg to the US.

It's one thing to take a relatively ungainly handling vehicle and add a third row. Driver expectations aren't going to be all that demanding, performance-wise. But there's limits to just how much Porsche-like driving you can get out of an SUV. Not sure how readily they could make a 3rd row beast drive like a Porsche. That and is there enough of a market to justify the effort?
