Default 2017 Cayenne rear headrest removal

Hello all, New to the forum. We just picked up our 2017 Cayenne s. We love the car so far but have a little issue. We are trying to fit our 2 carseats in the rear but are being obstructed by the rear headrests. The center headrest is easy to remove however the two sides do not have the same release feature. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the two rear headrests?

What carseats are you using? I ran into a similar problem with my Jeep Grand Cherokee (which a 958 will soon be replacing). The flip-bracket for those is VERY integrated into the seat. I only needed about an extra 1/2" of clearance. I had to take a set of long-handled box-end wrenches and literally BEND the posts of the headrest back that 1/2" in order to allow the seat to rest evenly. I'd like to avoid the same thing, so I'm likewise interested in how the headrests are set up.

We are using a Recaro Performance Ride seat. Awesome carseat, hoping we don't have to ditch it for something else just because of the sill headrest.

Be aware of proper installation with any car seat. Use everything the vendor supplies, including any over-the-seatback strap. Lots of folks leave that one out. If we're going to use carseats then it's important we use them properly.

That one had issues when using with the LATCH anchors alone:

Which doesn't answer your original question, one I'd also like to know. Anyone have a parts diagram showing how the headrest is integrated into the seat back?

Here is the info for the 958.1, I expect the .2 is the same.

Raise the headrest as far as it will go.
Press down on the leather around the inboard post receptacle.
Underneath the plastic lip there is a button you need to press (again on the inboard side).
While pressing that button press the button on the headrest again and it should remove.

A second pair of hands (especially small ones to get that small button) is handy, but not required.
