Default Trans Service

About to change the trans fluid. Other than the kits from FCP Euro and the like that seem to vary w/ 8 or 9 liters of fluid and filter, do I need the special little 10m threaded adapter to re-fill it? Seems like it's not included if so.

Thanks,

I did this last week. Yes, you need a fill adaptor in addition to the FCP Euro kit. You need the ATF 105 adapter. I used my Motive Power Bleeder and the quick disconnect in the below set to put new ATF fluid into the transmission.

Also, I followed the DIY tech article on Pelican.

I bought this set from Amazon https://a.co/d/02bcqEeg

I did this last week too. I got a metal adapter from amazon and it worked well. It was pretty easy overall but the center bracket thing blocks some of the bolts to the oil pan and the rear 3 bolts are a pain to get to, but not too bad. I also added some hot shots secrets ATF fluid and it runs quite a bit smoother and at a lower temperature. One step I think I didn't do well on was the temperature fill check. Because the hot shots secrets reduces the running temp of the transmission, I couldn't get it up to the 95 degree F minimum that porsche suggests and even after letting the engine idle for 45 minutes, going through all the gears it would not go over 85 degrees so I had to guess. I'll need to top the fluid off next oil change for sure, so make sure your transmission is properly warm so you can fill it up the right way

Were y’all guys having issues with your transmissions or just doing preventative maintenance? I’ve got a 2013 GTS with 80k miles and was going to do a preventative fluid and filter change and my Indy said at that age and mileage if you’re not having issues don’t touch it.

Preventive for me. The transmission oil pan was so gunked up that the magnets weren't even able to hold anything anymore so it was needed. The whole mechanic thing of "don't change your trans oil" doesn't really make sense when porsche themselves say to change the trans fluid at 160k miles, but most dealers will tell you to do it at half that time. My transmission shifts smoother than ever and now i'm one step closer to having everything ready for a tune on my Diesel

I changed mine for PM. It had 110 or maybe 120k miles when I did it. Also did front and rear diff.

Well obviously, it must be the season for doing cayenne ATF changes! I actually did a complete flush by disconnecting the hoses from the cooler and following the thread in the DIY. It wasn't difficult, but i did need a lot of oil till it ran completely clear. I had my wife cycle the gears and turn the engine on for around 30 secs or so, then stopping to let the fluid pumping in catch up.

I had read with a total flush you needed 12.5 litres, and I had only bought 12. I got another 4 litres to be on the safe side, and boy I'm glad I did. I went through about 14.5 to 15 litres till I was happy it was running completely pink.

A regular change you will not need anywhere near that amount.

Like above. I changed my Diesel at 100,000 miles. The magnets had alot of debris.
Shifts were smoother after the change.
Will do again at 200,000 miles.

Dealer found some seepage at 75K so I went ahead and changed it myself along with the transfer case and diffs since I had the gear oil laying around the garage. I don’t see any harm servicing it. I think that leave it alone if no issue is that old school of thought for neglected and delayed maintenance where it is too far gone to make any difference.
