Oil temp with AC on vs off

2016 base. I thought I had noticed an interesting pattern that the oil temp goes down when the AC is on and up when it is off. Turns out in a semi-controlled experiment on a flat portion of I-40 using cruise control, it's true! Seems non intuitive, but there must be additional cooling somehow when the AC is on.
