Engine Oil 3.0 Diesel 2017
Hello,
What engine oil would you recommend for the above vehicle that has 70k miles.
Mobile suggests these two, some people say not to use Mobil 1 on run in engines.
Thanks
Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30
Mobil Super 3000 Formula V 0W-30

As the owner/operator/maintainer of two Cayenne Diesels, here is my $0.25.....
You absolutely need to use ONLY an oil that meets VW Spec 504.00 and 507.00. This is a specialized synthetic with very low ash, (Low-SAPS oil) as the diesel particulate filters (DPFs) are ultra-sensitive to ash . SAPS is an acronym for Sulphated Ash Phosphorous and Sulphur - primary constituents of "ash." Very few oils meet this, so read the specs very carefully, as the DPFs can be damaged very easily and are $$$$$$$$$.
My personal preference is the Liqui Moly products, and specifically Top Tec 4200 - available from FCP Euro and others. This oil is specifically blended with an additive package that works well with high-temperature conditions in turbochargers. I have a combined mileage now of 210,000 miles on the CDs.
My suggestions if operating in the US "dirty diesel" environment:
1. One ounce of Power Service Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost with every fueling. Lubricates pump/injectors. Cleans injectors,
2. If used primarily on the highway, or on local trips > 30 minutes/trip - change oil/filter every 4.000 miles
3. If used primarily for short trips, change oil/filter every 2,000 miles.
4. Monitor engine condition with qualified oil analysis - my go-to is SPEEDiagnostix - they really know Porsche engines and are certified tribologists.
5. ALWAYS use a quality diesel fuel additive
6. NEVER use any type of oil additive!!!!!

Just has to be a Porsche C30 oil (VW 504/507)
That said I've been running Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 with good results over 20k miles on my now-100k mile 2014 CD. Not sure if PO used it, but after multiple changes every 5k (plus intake cleaning, injector flush when changing fuel filter, and a Diesel Kleen in the tank a few times) efficiency is up, smoothness improved, and throttle response feels as it would've new. For the price ($38 for a 5qt jug, I buy 2 per change and keep the leftovers) I think the synthetic option is worth it, and seems to agree with a high mile engine. I was getting some oil burn initially (about half a qt over 5000 miles), but after cleaning the fuel filter strangely that has stopped. No leaks (I've scoped under the EGR cooler, around the timing chain plate, under the vehicle with splash guards removed etc) and better response on the throttle.
