Default Diesel tunes...

I searched a few threads and mostly see Malone this and EGR that. Just a basic Google search shows that there are many tuners out there. Does anybody have any experience with RaceChips, KermaTDI, TDITuners, or any others? I'm only seeing Malone feedback. Those threads usually devolve into subtle differences between stage 1,2,ect.

My 2013 has about 87K and I was told by a mechanic friend to "tune it, and get rid of that diesel gate crap". My Cayenne drives great but I never had it pre-"fix". Just looking for feedback on any of the other tunes out there... I'm looking to keep everything stock.

Cayenne Diesel folks let me know your thoughts on your tune setup. Thanks

I'm in the UK but went to my local tuner and said remove all the "get round the emissions" software put it back to stock with a mild increase across the board but nothing that will stress the internals. It's like a new car! Drives so much better. Still stock with all the DPF, CAT etc but vastly improved.

Wow that's nice that you know a local tuner. That sounds ideal. Sounds like you are pretty happy and have good results. I'm still hoping others have tried or continue to use a Cayenne tune other than Malone that they can comment on here.

Just deleted my 2015, Malone 2.5 , EGR/def. Huge difference in driving, even reg mode is better then sport mode use to be. Plus your car will be clean. Pictures of my EGR/intake are after 23k miles of highway driving so city driving has to be filthy. Would never go back. The def pipe, EGR delete plus tune all in maybe $1400.

I think in Ca. where they smog our diesels the tunes would be detected by the electronics- the smog test connects directly to the car and communicates to the dmv. Any comments welcome

Thank you blockhead for the comments and pricing! Hopefully there's some more folks with tunes that can also chime in....

Dont overlook TCU tunes as well. I went with a Malone TCU 'autobahn' tune and I almost enjoy it as much as the delete tune. Shifts a lot better and gets rid of 90% of the acceleration hesitation.

The shifting actually got way better with the ECU tune, maybe new found power and adaptation resolved a few things. Initially when we loaded the tune I wasnt impressed but after a day it was a whole new car

Not a fan of the autobahn tune. Get a tiny bit of slip on the very first 2-3 upshift after it sits overnight. It also slips as much as 500rpm on a downshift while towing. It's more pronounced on cruise control. Anyone else experiencing this? The fluid/filter are only 25k miles old.

The increased power definitely helps. I felt the my CD was at about 85% perfect after the ECU tune and wanted to get to 100%. It was the turbo lag I was after. Post TCU tune I feel like it's about 95%

I've had zero issues with the TCU tune, I really enjoy it. I went with the autobahn since people were complaining it was holding 3rd too long before they put out different versions. But also I live in Kansas where if you put it in cruise control it will stay in that gear forever because we're flatter than flat. And I never tow.

So mine only does that 1st thing in am for initial few miles but then shifts perfectly fine.

No one has tried the KermaTDI tune? I'm looking at that one b/c you keep all the the emissions stuff, no delete this or unplug that.

Hoping someone is out there

I'd love one with a DEF delete and a cat bypass. Nothing better the rolling coal on a tesla.

One last bump to see if anyone out there has something other than a Malone tune that they can share info about...

No one tried RaceChips? KermaTDI?

cole, from what I have learned so far and what my mechanic told me, tunes other than Malone are all piggybacks. They are boxes which feed augmented info into sensors to fool ECU into doing something different than it normally would. Does it work, yes, but I am being told this makes the engine run hotter and may stress components. But the beauty is, remove the box and you are 100% back to stock since ECU had not been touched. With Malone tune you actually flash the ECU to make it do different stuff based on real input, so in my view (and my mechanic's), more robust and less stress on the engine components. Also, Malone can flash tune TCU which, in my understanding, no other box tuner can do (I could be wrong). TCU tuning makes the largest difference in drivability, so I am told. The good thing about Malone, is once you buy it, you can flash back and forth between your stock and improved tunes as many times as you want. After you flash it back, the dealer or DOT should not be able to figure out what you had been up to. It takes about the same time to flash as it takes to remove a box tune. For box tune you have to get under the hood and get dirty (yewwwwwww) but flash you can do from the comfort of the driver's seat. And no, I am not a Malone shill, just sharing what I learned. I see benefits in both options, especially for boxes when you take into account price. Hmmm... I am having a Vishnu vs Dynaflash flashback...
