Default 2011 Cayenne S upper front control arm replacement question

2011 Cayenne S with PASM., 180K miles. I want to replace my front upper control arms, but can easily see that the bolts holding them in place are captured by the adjustable suspension component. Obviously, I will have to remove the unit to replace the control arms. My concern is whether this is a straightforward remove and reinstall of that unit, or will the removal cause more headaches, (service messages, loss of nitro/oxy in the component, shutdowns, etc.) .

Any help from a "been there, did that"?

Thanks,

Jim

I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for, but if you know what you're doing, it's super easy. If you have no idea what you're doing, it's super easy to screw up a ton of things.

Haha...isn't that always the case?

I want to know if removing and re-installing the adjustable suspension unit will cause secondary issues to pop up, assuming I can actually remove and re-install it, which I can.

If you do things correctly, it's a non-issue to remove a strut and stick it back in, which you need to do to swap the control arm.

I've found it always makes life easier to drain the strut back into the system, then start working. Remember to measure where the control arm is at so you know what angle to torque it.

Make sure you begin the project with all necessary tools, then it's 100% straight forward. Garrett is correct in that I don't think or think you want to chance moving that strut around with the air tube still in it. That means you're going to have to deflate the shock to get that UCA replaced.
