Default Porsche Cayenne E2 II 2016 - P0018

Hello. I'm new to this forum, and I want to share my recent problem with my Porsche Cayenne e-Hybrid.

After 5 months of having bought it used with 130.000 km, while driving on the highway I had an error on the screen that said "Engine power reduced, possible to continue visit workshop" and obviously I was scared and took it to a mechanic where I used to go. After changing the oil, checking the sensors, nothing worked, and we changed the 3 spark plugs too on the Bank 2.

The error that continues to prevail after all attempts to resolve it is P0018 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2). The only solution I was given would be to open the engine and try to see if there is a chain guide that is not stretching correctly and is causing distorted readings.

Has anyone ever had this error?
Was it expensive to solve?

Thank you in advance for your help/opinions.

Hello,

we have the same problem but with extra low oil warnings, did you get it fixed? How did you get it fixed?

Hi bro. I dont have good news to you. I still have the problem unresolved, I continue to drive slowly, and try to go in electric mode, but the problem according to my mechanic is a chain inside the engine that is not stretched enough because one of the 3 pads that exists in the distribution system may be broken. The price of the arrangement is not certain yet, but it is above €5000. As for the oil, I think it's normal in these engines, I always carry 1L in the trunk of the car, I add 250ml from time to time, when necessary.

Thanks for the reply, with us it started with a oil level to high warning, got some oil sucked out and it gave later that day the red oil level to low warning, filled it up and it was gone, even further in the day it gave the yellow oil level to low warning with the P0018 code. Now I keep on filling up the oil but both warnings and the P0018 code keep on popping up….

In my case, I took a 400km trip, and close to reaching the destination I received a message that the oil level was low and I had to add 1L. I went back, and when I got home I added the liter that was requested on the on-board computer. 100km later this error appeared and since then I have tried everything, I changed the oil to a Castrol 5W30 LL, changed the spark plugs on bank 2, checked the cam sensors etc. Ever since I was told that the problem could only be solved by opening the engine, I've been devastated...

Does this engine have a PCB valve that leaks like the non ehybrid 3.6?

Hey Mark, Thanks for the reply. We’ve got it fixed it was the timing chain. Brought it to a specialist en fixed it for €5K,- under the estimate of porsche but still it was quite expensive….
