Thanks. This one was much warmer than that. I'll check it out again.

I'm not sure about the oil temp. I think it was pretty low though. I remember thinking it was was way lower than the coolant which was 200F

the dealer showed me a trick that works everytime on all porsche models that measure the oil level with the computer. Turn the car on and warm up the engine to operating temp, doesnt matter if you drive it or let it idle until it reaches operating temp. Then make sure the car is on a level surface. Once the car reaches operating temp, turn the car off and then turn the key back to the on position without the engine running, after 60 seconds the oil level will show up!! it works every time !!! And like previously stated above, always remember that opening the hood resets that reading.

edit: @garrett376 is a treasure and has already mentioned this above! my apologies! i always thought it was 60 seconds with the ignition on and engine off but it looks like its 120 seconds actually!

Just a general suggestion. You may want to find a good independent service shop in your area and have them do a pre-purchase inspection. This will 1) help you get a baseline on the vehicle, 2) budget for any things that may need to be repaired in the near future, and 3) see if you like the shop and are comfortable with it before you have an emergency repair.

You should absolutely take his word for it. Personally, I would not have even cranked/started the Cayenne. I would have immediately placed the Cayenne on a flatbed, take it to a known indy. Get all the fluids flushed/changed and filters changed. The ex might have inadvertently dropped some sawdust or banana peels in the oil!

A blown engine in this
Cayenne = Vehicle with a net value of zero dollars. Maybe even negative equity to have it junked.

It is a transfer of equity in a divorce settlement.

You do this often? I prefer other distractions.

All this because Porsche was able to save 49cts by omitting the dipstick.

So my daughter brought it into the dealer. They came back with a quote for over 15K! They did say there was a fluid leak but everything else was maintenance type work.
LEAK IS UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, SUSPECT THERMOSTAT HOUSING , Y PIPE - $4475

Boy I'm glad I don't have a Porsche

$10,000 in maintenance work? lol.

Take it to an independent mechanic that specializes in germans and you are probably looking at a couple thousand.

As mentioned elsewhere find a good reputable indy.

I just did my 60k service. Same checklist (Major Service that includes plugs, brake fluid flush, filters, fluids, drain cleaning, etc.) as Porsche. $850. At a Porsche dealer $2500- $4200
