Default Chassis System Failure after using iCarSoft 3.0

Hello everyone,

Today, after reading out / clearing some fault codes with my new diagnostics tool iCarSoft 3.0 (previously used iCarSoft 2.0) I now continuously get the red "Chassis System Failure" message and the ride height lever + PASM mode buttons on the middle console don't light up anymore.

This happened while trying some new diagnostics features such as read accumulator air volume etc. which kept giving resulting in Chassis System Fault / Failure prompts, which were easily cleared by turning the ignition off and back on. At some point though the diagnostics said to check if the device was plugged in properly and if the ignition was on, while this was the case and all other car features/modules were still listed. But after this the "Level control module" option didn't show up as a feature neither during the quick scan or while manually selecting the LCM option in the diagnostics list. It kept saying "not fitted", as if there's no communication with the LCM or as if my there's no Air Suspension or PASM fitted (?). Disconnecting the diagnostics tool and removing key etc. made no difference and the "Chassis System Failure" message now always appears after inserting the key to ignition pos. 1 or when starting up. My car's ride height seems to remain steady at the normal ride height while it's parked. The system wasn't leaking / losing pressure, and was working fine before this, i.e. the suspension was easily raised and lowered between the Low setting and Off Road High.

I checked the big orange fuse 40A on position 56 and it is intact.

The reason I connected the diagnostics tool was that I got a Check Engine Light earlier yesterday on my drive out to the desert. The engine ran smooth nonetheless and no low fluids or hight temps etc. I cleared the codes P000C, P1572 and P0599. Meanwhile I noticed the car's throwing more fault codes, for AC, Passenger Front door not connecting, PSM not connecting (not PASM), although when driving all of these functioned well. So it's either an electrical gremlin or coincidence. But i'm at a loss here. Main thing right now is to figure out how to activate, recognize or revive my Air Suspension so that my car doesn't seem to think it's not existent.

Thanks!

Namdar

@Namdartje With seemingly unrelated error codes, the first question to ask is: "how old is your battery?"

An old or weak battery can cause spurious error codes.

It's not your battery.

Your tester did not return the system out of diagnostic test mode, which it goes into when you're messing with stuff. Find where that function is, and return the Level Control module out of diagnostic mode.

I'll check when I get back to the car later this afternoon but i'm pretty sure it's from 11/20. Battery seems healthy, i.e. holds its charge / allows the start stop function to shut down the engine even when radio, AC and seat ventilation are on (the car only allows this if the battery has sufficient capacity).

That makes sense. The 3.0 iCarSoft offers features which aren't fully working or supported by my car (according to the 'not allowed' / 'not possible' messages i'd get when trying to enter those submenus). I didn't confirm or calibrate / reset anything, but I def think something might have happened there, as entering those submenus automatically prompted the Chassis System Failure message.

Unfortunately the LEC (Level Control) now doesn't show up in the Quick test or Auto scan lists = where I need to be in order to enter those diagnostics submenus. And in the Control Unit list where I see all the Cayenne options (not just those fitted on my car) it says not fitted and consequently doesn't give me any options to enter the LEC menu as it thinks it's not fitted.

Ironically enough when performing the Quick test where it scans all the car's fitted options for faults etc. I do see a split second of LEC Scanning up to 44/46% and then it vanishes, without being featured in the results list... So somehow it does pop up, but diagnostics cycle isn't completed and thus dismissed (?). See image.

After disconnecting the electric connectors to the PASM / Air Suspension Control Module behind the right side trunk panel, the LEC popped up again in my Quick List, Auto Scan and Manual Selection. Running the diagnostics shows no error codes and Height Adjustment is apparently 'Adjustable', However when checking the Air Suspension status in the submenu it gives me one error code: "000001 Active - Commissioning not complete". When selecting the option "Unlock Commissioning" and start it simply gives back "fault" / "not completed".

Does this mean my air suspension module has to be encoded again? Should I take it to a Porsche or Air Suspension specialist? It doesn't seem like something is defect, but like some programming/software flaw.

Also i'm still getting the red "Chassis System Failure" prompt and the lights on the PASM and Ride Height selectors are still off...

Curious, did you update your icarsoft before using it? Probably a long shot, but likely won't hurt to have it on the latest version in case you're experiencing some sort of bug in the diagnostics module.

I was going to mention this to the OP but can't recall if my old Icarsoft, which I hated, was updatable. My Launch diagnostic tool was having a ton of issues shortly after I purchased it and I threw it not he shelf and said oh well. Then I needed to use it and thought let me spend sometime and let it run all the updates. It now works perfectly.

Thanks, good point. I received the device last week so figured it's pretty up to date. Will have to find a PC (no updates for Mac) and try updating it.

I would update it immediately. My 3.0 was not shipped with the latest software. It's pretty easy and quick to do on your computer.

This is why i'm hesitant to start messing with my airsuspension with icarsoft. The buttons are there but do I want to press them.

Keep us updated! Hopefully it won't need coding.

Does your car still lift / level or is the air dead?

Latest update. I went to an Air Suspension specialist here in Los Angeles, and his programmer guy couldn't reprogram my air suspension and noted the module might have gotten corrupted ("fried").
However, after several attempts afterwards and restarting the iCarSoft the option to Commission the Air Suspension worked and the system came back online. Performing perfectly as if nothing had happened.
I don't know why the same attempt previously didn't work, but in the end I got it to work again...
