Today is another DIY, installing an OE fit dashcam for my CS.
It was a super easy 5 minutes install.
I wanted a dashcam that does not obstruct my view when driving in anyway.
While searching for one, Google lead me to a website where I could buy what I just wanted.
It was a I didn't have to do any wiring, just plug in and done type install.
OE fit dashcam from China
Just like the product introduction page, it is mounted on the rearview mirror mount.
First, I had to remove the mirror swivel joint cover.
Then all I had to do was opening the center dome and connect the provided wire to the light wiring plug, close covers back.
Was as simple as that, really.
What I got
What you see is what was included in the box, including a manual with QR code leading to a installation video.
Luckily, the install was really simple, I did NOT have to check the video out.
Install prep.
It began with removing the plastic cover where the rear view mirror root was mounted, and by removing center dome for wiring.

The added wire assembly goes to the right side connector.
The seller said it provides power to the dome lightings, and where the dashcam draws power from.
In case you are wondering what that 3rd wire coming out from bulb insert is a rerouted Isudar module microphone wire.
And garnishes
This is how it looks like with all covers removed.
What you see further away with diagonal lines is a 4 channel dashcam (front, rear, sides).
As a civil patrol directly reporting traffic violations to police, I needed a simpler way to get recorded videos to my phone.
This is the very reason why I need a wifi dashcam.
Before this, I had to remove the memory card from the dashcam then plug it to a computer, but this new one eliminates the hassle, and I get to access to the recorded video.
Voila!
With the wire connected, it powers on right away.
I didn't have to anything really...
Red light starts blinking telling me that I need to setup the dashcam.
All looks normal
Dashcam wifi comes online, once connected, this is what you will see right away with its app.
You can change the AP SSID, and password if needed.
The red light will keep blink unless you change the default password (setup).
Date and time will set automatically.
Connection was very smooth, and the live video quality was acceptable.
This screenshot is the actual video saved on to the memory card.
Finished
With everything set, blue light comes on, and you are good to go.
Nice clean installation. I was a little (or a lot) confused last night when you posted without text.

How far off can you read a license plate?
I got the same one few months ago and has been testing this. The hardest part for me to install was getting the two metal clips off of the U shape light. Overall I think the video quality was quite good.
Some good information on the Amazon page -- app may be a bit buggy, no parking mode. There is a front/rear dual camera model,which requires running a thick connecting wire from the front camera to the hatch installation.
I tried to measure distance between from my dashcam to a car in front.
The distance is where the letters on a plate start to garble / smudge.
Daytime
At constant low speed (>40mph); about 30ft.
At high speed (~100mph); about 20ft, letters clearly visible, but garbled when changing lane.
Night time
At constant low speed (>40mph); about 20ft, until letters completely garbled.
At high speed (~100mph); about 10ft, letters somewhat visible, but completely garbled when changing lane.
Which model did you get? There are a couple of resolution options, 2k and 4k.
Can you share a few more photos in daylight? Looks like a great a mod for our cayennes!
On their official site review someone said that there is now preview thumbnails for saved videos; however, luckily this does NOT happen on my iphone.
For the parking mode, there are two options, either buy a fuse box wiring set or an OBD wiring set.
Which model did you get? There are a couple of resolution options, 2k and 4k.

I got the 4K front only model.
