Default Chassis System Failure - Fault Code 220

2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I have a sporadic Chassis System Failure. Durametric reads a 220 code. Need help debugging what to do first. System works well and displays no codes if left overnight. Car rises and lowers well so no blown fuse. If I am driving for like an hour and the fault comes in, and I clear the fault on the move, the car will drive flawlessly for like half hour and then the "Failure" appears again. On the durametric it is always the 220 code. See Pic. Any ideas where to start to fix?

Please have the codes read with proper diagnostic tool such as Piwis . No point in chasing your tail up blind alleys.

State year and model of your car when you post to give the members some context.

In a nutshell, your front passenger shock needs replacing.

2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Read the code with Durametric. Screen shot of Durametric readout is on the pdf.

Under the durametric PASM menu
Fault Code 220
Pressure-regulating valve FA, short circuit to B+
Warning indicator Off
Test Completed this monitoring cycle
Test Not Failed Since Last Clear
Test Completed Since Last Clear
Not Pending DTC
Test Not Failed this Operation Cycle
Fault Passive

OP, where are you located? I think this is somewhat of a known issue for those of us in colder climates. I've had my 2011 Turbo S have "Chassis System Failure" whenever it's like below 20* degrees out. Last few weeks in Colorado have seen temps below 0 degrees soooo yeah it goes away once it warms up again

Greensboro, NC - not the coldest place. Also it triggers inconsistently. Best advice I have so far is to switch out the distribution block as it looks to be an electrical issue. Will report back if this is the case.

^You're just gonna start throwing parts at that problem. You need to go through the steps to diagnose your issue. so here ya go:

Step 1: Park on a level surface and cycle the ride height all the up and then down and then let it rest in normal setting. Turn your suspension off for the night. Before you walk away from the car take a measurement of each corner and write them down. The next morning remeasure and see what corner, if any, has lowered or raised.

Come back and report that the the members. The first thing to go on our 958's is the front right shock and your symptoms are the same.

It's best to do the "overnight test" at High Level 2 (max height) vs Normal height because the pressure is the highest in the struts at that height, so strut leaks are more easily detected.

@RAudi Driver Got it. I feel silly reporting this but when I put the car ALL the way up (which I had not done in the past) I could hear a leak from a rear bag. Ordered a replacement. I wonder if this code is just the compression temp sensor shutting it down. And I am pretty sure I was sober....

haha, love the sober joke. Ok so it looks like we are narrowing it down.

Between Garrett and myself, you can get all the information regarding the air suspension on this vehicle.

Step one is placing the car in high mode and turning off the suspension by holding the suspension button all the up for 15 seconds. It will read control off on your dash. Get out and go to bed. Check it in the am. The bad shock will be lower and the opposite front shock will be higher. Don’t ask me why. Your problem would be the low side. Always replace in pairs. Always!

if you need pictures or a DIY let me know. I have all that stuff but I don’t put it on Rennlist any longer.

Keep us posted.

Come summer, expect ring ring from me. Still deciding to rebuild or replace.
