Creating this thread purely as information for anyone looking at these cars, 51K miles and i just had my transfer case replaced by Porsche under the 10-year unlimited milage warranty. This will actually be its 2nd TC as it also received a new one at 38k miles under warranty,
My symptoms where a jerky and hunting gear between 3-5. Very audible clunk clunk clunk too.
It will be at 10 years old next year so this is likely my last free replacement, I will change out the oil every 10k and hope for the best.
Quite astonishing the limited life these TC's appear to have.
And I do not think it is conclusive that the latest iteration is a fix. Most I have read said it is related to water ingress, however I thought they changed the vent on an early version and there were still occurrences of failure. So the latest version has different clutch coatings. Hopefully they will start to last longer. I am on second TC as far as I know. I got my CTT with 38K miles and soon after receiving it, I had the symptoms. Unfortunately the CCT's TC is more expensive if I ever have to replace under my costs. It is interesting reading all the failures with low mileage vehicles. Maybe we just need to drive more.
