Not a known issue but I think older V8's need the revised part which allegedly does a better job. Not sure when the new part started but there's a blue dot on the inside or something...

Realistically, they should last 80k+ miles but just do it the next time you do the spark plugs (which is supposed to be every 30k-40k), its 3 bolts and unplugging 2 hoses. The part is like $150?

oh i looked it up that part is external on the V8 engines so probably much easier to replace. Thanks.

Has anyone tackled this? If so, would you do it again? Any cautions or pointers?
It appears that there are not many DIYers here

Such an insightful response to a post by someone three months ago. Enough initiative to read to the second post but not any further to the literal video of a man replacing the part in question.

I've run it on mine for about 8k miles now with no issues. All you are doing is moving the location of the PCV "downstream" about 6 inches. It only takes about 30 minutes to "convert"/fix the torn PCV.
Hi geetee, may you do a write up with photos to show how to convert the PCV to external?

I've now put just over 15k miles with the external PCV installed. No issue, no codes, no leaks. I'll try to post a write up with photos by early next week.
