Default Lighting issues

I have a 2013 S V8 with a couple of odd interior lighting issues.

First, the ambient lights have started to act strangely. The driver foot well and the overhead ring light stay on at full ambient level while driving. All others seem to work normally. Changing the brightness % has no affect on them. Bulbs are original.

Second, the cargo compartment dome light doesn’t turn completely off when the car is parked, it glows a dim blue light. I noticed it one night a couple of months after we bought it two years ago and it hasn’t changed. Works fine otherwise.

Any ideas?

TIA!

Make sure previous owner has not installed LEDs. Only other thing I can think of is water getting in places it shouldn't

@dhuff did you solve it?

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the interior lighting? In mine, the tailgate interior roof light is not working, but the bulb and fuse are fine.

@RAudi Driver Thanks for the reply, I’m pretty sure they’re not LED’s, we’ve had the car for a couple of years and it just started doing it. I just bought a new battery for it to replace the 100k mile original one, I’ve heard that an old one can cause odd electrical problems. As soon as I get the time I’ll throw it in and see.

The first thing I checked was water in the floor, thankfully didn’t find any.

@VarioSpam Not yet, bought a new battery, just need the time to put it in, I’ll let you know.

I’ll dig out the schematic, I think we both have a problem with the ground contact. In your case it’s probably not making good contact, in my case it’s not breaking completely.

I’m retired now so I don’t have time to do anything😎 but I’ll try to get it in the next couple of days.

Thanks! Yes, I did notice that the bulb was at 12V, so the problem is indeed the ground-side is open circuit.

Add these problems to the list of what happens when the battery gets old. I replaced the 9 y/o battery and they went away.

@VarioSpam Did you solve this? I just noticed this evening that my dome light is also not functioning. No other issues, and it's not throwing a code.

Oh, yes, it was user error! I didn't have right setting on for the internal lights, although seemed a bit odd that the main light was coming on but not the internal one near the tailgate. Anyway, works now!
It might be good to replace the bulb with an LED one, but in the end couldn't easily find the right one and it is working...

Which setting was it? Do you remember how you changed it?

I didn't do it myself, garage did. I think it was the buttons in the centre console surrounded by the front ring light. I suggest open the tailgate such that the light should be on, and then cycle through these and any other settings in the PCM menus.
