About time to replace the pads on the pig. I'm not a fan of the squeal and dust of the factory pads, so I've been looking at alternates. Problem is, resellers don't seem to be clear about what fits the car. For example, ECS lists the Hawk HPS 5.0 pads as "For 360mm Rotors Only" despite the being listed by Hawk for the CTT. I believe the CTT uses 390mm rotors, do these pads still fit? I believe I saw it mentioned that the S and Turbo still use the same pad despite the rotor (and caliper offsets), is that right?
If anyone has pad feedback, would like to hear it as well.
Ok, Here it goes. I just replaced the pads on my 2011 Cayenne TT. My vendor is FCP. So with FCP you order your new brakes and once you receive them, you return your old set. During my return process I'm printing up the return paperwork and realized that the brakes I just received are not for the Turbo. I then looked at the old order from 2 years and lo and behold those too are the incorrect pad for the vehicle.
With the new pads already installed and the old pads mailed back, I decided to order a set of the correct pads to see what the difference is and these are the results. I use Pagid pads for every car.
So I did some research to see what the difference between the two pads are as I would have noticed if the pads were too small for the calipers and rotors upon install. Researched the pad sizes on Pagid's website and they are both the exact same size. So thinking what else can it be that one is not for the Turbo. I could only think maybe the friction material is different or maybe one pad has more material. So I began the task of removing the one week old pads from the front calipers and comparing them to the new correct pads I was about to install.
This is the new box that arrived with the correct Cayenne Turbo pads inside:
Side by side, backside, of the incorrect pad (one week used) vs the correct pad, which is brand new. Except for numbers, they are identical looking:
Friction side of the incorrect used pad and the correct new pad (red plugs installed):
So it appears that the Cayenne Turbo pads have a full cutout at the top of the pad as opposed to the Standard Cayenne pads which are just beveled slightly. The turbo fitment pads seem to have more copper flakes in them, but I can't be sure as the non turbo pads are used so it's a hard comparison. the little copper flakes don't seem to be showing up on my pictures but rest assured that they are visible with the naked eye.
Consensus is that I have no idea why one is for the turbo and the other one isn't. The incorrect pad worked perfectly on the car for the last two years. No squeaks, vibrations and perfect stopping power. After installing the new correct pads, I can't tell one bit of difference.
Hope this helps
*Both pads were measured with a caliper gauge and they are the same size.

To add, I know cayenne S and Turbo both use the same pad. I'm in the middle of upgrading my front calipers to turbo calipers and the pads are identical (physically). CS uses the 360mm rotor. I can't speak for the black base calipers/pads but I also believe the pads are the same.

Completed a rotor and pad replacement for a 2011 CTT. Zimmerman rotors and Hawk ceramic pads. Front rotors are 390 and purchased the pads from hawkpadsdirect. Very pleased with the minimum dust, if any, no noise and great response.
No to Ceramic pads on the Turbo or GTS. Not a good pad for the vehicle, unless you just do city driving and don't mind pressing a little harder on the pedal, it's not a good match for the vehicle. Also the assisted braking system doesn't work as well with a ceramic pad and that's one feature I absolutely love.
I'm currently using EBC brakes and I really like them. Had them on a previous car as well. They make a lot of dust - comparable with stock - but they work really well. I'm using the "Yellow Stuff".
New pad is in the bottom left (red plugs, Pagids). Other three pads are off the wrecked Cayenne Turbo. You can see the brembo part number for the pads. Look pretty similar to me. The only difference I can kinda see is less angled chamfer at the edges of the pad (left and right) for the Brembo/CTT pads. That could be because of specs from Porsche or a choice by the pad maker..
Edit: If you search that brembo part number, 25007171B13. A cross reference comes up: 95835193910 or 7P0615115E. Put that into your favorite parts website and it'll be compatible with all 958 Cayenne versions. https://www.gaudinporscheparts.com/o...nt-95835193910
I'm gonna guess its just differences in manufacturing across time/years. Functionally, all pads for steel rotor 958's are the same.

Wow, very interesting to see that the fitment all pads for 958s are the same. I have a 958.2 GTS with the 390mm rotors and the aftermarket pad availability is almost zero. But this would imply that it's largely attributable to parts catalogs not being aware of the cross-compatibility here.
For what it's worth, I just replaced the front and rear pads on my '16 GTS this weekend. I was somewhat surprised to see that the replacement pads from the dealer were Akebonos in the front, and Brembos in the back. Which is exactly what I also pulled off the vehicle. I had heard about several different OEMs making pads for our cars, but it would appear that for the GTS the supplier might be more specific.
