I'm a 996 Turbo owner looking to add a Cayenne to the fleet. We test drove a base 2012 last week and my wife loved it even though the battery died on the test drive leaving us stranded in an intersection. We passed on that one and have been looking ever since. I've found a 2012 Cayenne S I'm going to look at tomorrow but I have some concerns. Are these vehicles reliable? I've been searching the forum endlessly and I'm aware of the transfer case issue but just how prevalent is the problem?
What other issues should I be concerned with other than the usual used car things to look out for? As I've said, I'm no stranger to Porsche having owned a 930 and a 996T so I know maintenance is extremely important but what am I looking at a far as problems with a Cayenne?
You can use the search function for Cayenne S to find most everything you want to know. I have a 2016 and love the car but the engine has started to get the oil leak common to it. Hoping Porsche offers some sort of recall on it as the repair can be pricey.
Just got my '13 CS with 31k and and obsessive dealer service history. It has to cross the country to get to me but it is such a wonderful car!! Good luck with your search!!
