2014 Cayenne Diesel, thin, oily film at transmission
During an oil change over the weekend I noticed what looks like oil where the transmission meets the motor. It's very thin and not really very wet. The pics make it look wetter than it is. I can't see anything up higher or on any surrounding components. Plastic under tray is completely dry.
2014 Cayenne Diesel, 55,000 miles, daily driver and tow vehicle for the track. Any ideas?

Thanks for the service bulletin. I wonder what POA is doing about these leaks? I suppose all of us with diesels face this same issue. I like the notion that it is oil sweating so nothing needs to be done- what ever happened to German engineering? Perhaps they need advice from Honda or Toyota. We have a Mercury Milan 2010, 6 cylinder that had to have all the sealing surfaces re sealed at our expense. Last American car for us.

Also found this post about how if it's an actual leak, not just "sweating," that Porsche removed the motor and replaced the seal under the extended diesel warranty. Should we now be hoping the "sweating" turns into actual dripping?

For the money we spend on these Porsche cars they should be backing them up and making things right without a cost to the car owner. It's interesting that Jeep's diesel was the same size as Porsches and I wonder if the same company was building the diesel. Mine has a leak and I am pretty certain it is the main seal because you can see oil where the transmission and motor come together. First noticed it when the shield was dropped for an oil change and there was an oil film on the shield, about as much as your picture showed, not enough to drip and no drips on the garage floor. When the did all the diesel gate retrofit the Porsche dealer noted that the oil drain plug was leaking. You'd think they would have looked a bit further. I go to a dealer about 100 miles away because the local dealer where I bought the car is just not competent. When I had them change the oil and I checked when I got home it registered about 1/2 way on the electronic oil checker. I used to fill it up on the electronic checker and wonder if that caused the leaking seal because of too much oil. It barely loses oil between 7000 oil changes but before the warranty runs out I will have them fix it. It is also interesting that some of the years they recommend 5000 oil changes and others 10,000. I think they may have been afraid that the blue tech would run out before 10k. I haven't had an oil change at 5 k since the dieselgate fix so I don't know if it uses more of that then before the fix. I do know that it stays in 3rd longer probably to keep the revs up and burn some of the junk. I often short shift to save some revs and fuel. It's still an awesome car even though now diesel is $7.49 in California.

I've had lots of oil leaks fixed under warranty on my 13 CD. I think my engine has been dropped out of the car close to 10 times by now.
