Default Rear Hatch Strut Replacement

Hello,
Last week I bought a clean (I hope!) 2013 Cayenne GTS. It does have a problem with the rear hatch fully opening so the dealer ordered replacement struts and is going to have them installed and programmed (?) before he delivers the car to me. Why do the need to be "programmed?" Is this something I could do myself?
Thanks.

Nothing to program beyond setting an opening limiter if you want one. Totally plug and play

Thanks, Quadcammer. How do you set the limiter?

I believe you hold onto the lid and stop it where you want it when its opening. Then press and hold the close button till u get a beep.

Maybe I misread what Quad said, but to avoid fighting the motor while it's moving, it would be better to let it open where it opens to, then once it has stopped, move the tailgate to the amount of opening you desire, then press and hold the closing button until it beeps to set the open limit. It's all in the owner's manual.

That works also. In my case the hatch would hit my garage door so i have to stop it while its opening.
