This looks the same as all of the other Addison CarPlay boxes, and most likely uses the aux input.

There are three different players in this market:

1. JoyeAuto/the one you posted - this is an external box, it uses the Aux input as the sound source and you have to open the PCM to install. This overrides the display, and outputs its output out onto the PCM, you have to toggle to get back to PCM functionality. You can find this type of box branded as things other than JoyeAuto
2. ISudar - this is a card that goes inside the PCM, it also uses the Aux input as the sound source. This is the one that I have. Again you have to open the PCM and it overrides the display, and outputs its output out onto the PCM, you have to toggle to get back to PCM functionality.
3. Mr12Volt - another external box, the difference is that this system leverages (I think) the TV input on the PCM, so the sound input is better than the other two that go over Aux. As with the others, you need to crack open the PCM.

Pros of 1 & 2, you can display CarPlay and listen to your radio/Sat Radio while having maps run on the PCM. With Mr12Volt, you select the TV input, and you must use your phone to stream audio, if you want to view CarPlay. But the sound quality with Mr12Volt will be better. Also, with Mr12Volt I believe that parking sensor information will show up over CarPlay, on the others it doesn’t, because they are projecting on top of the standard PCM display.

I went with iSudar as I like to listen to the radio/Sat, which I control in the dash while having Maps running on the PCM display. Others in my house simply use their iPhone as the music source when driving, but I’m old school!

I assume it would use the old Ipod integration?

Not really sure why you'd go with ordering this (Mr 12 Volt knockoff?) from China and hoping for decent support rather than getting a genuine Mr. 12 Volt from a company with a proven history of excellent support like Roman at ACS for really not much more money ( https://acsbyroman.com/mr12volt/ ). I also assume that you'll need to pay duty on top of that $350 listed price.

this is not a Mr12volt knockoff. This is something much worse. It does not even use the fiber optics like Mr12volt does. There are cheaper kids with more functionality and an easier install available.

Just looking at options. Currently have an AutoABC fully internal unit installed. It uses Aux or Bluetooth for the audio connection. It's not bad as the Aux system is pretty clean and it adds a 16 band EQ to the mix. Works pretty well, but just looking to see if there are better options. That same company provides complete head unit replacements as well.
