My '16 with PDLS+ had one go bad last week. Tech said PCNA want to see droplets that run. Replaced under CPO. 4K + labor otherwise. 😳

 

One of mine did this a few years back when still under warranty. The first thing they tried was something around the drain. I think they tried one more thing and it too failed to fix things. At that point they replaced the entire assembly. I think it is safe to say not normal.

 

Will Porsche replace fogged up headlights if it out of warranty? I’ve had my 2019 and didn’t notice it the first 2 years. Now it is starting to fog up even if I didn’t give it a car wash. It’s a sunny day and it fogged. Very strange.

 

Just join the thread I’m having trouble with considerable moisture buildup in my 2017 Porsche Cayenne platinum edition. It seems to only affect the right side passenger headlight assembly. It keeps causing the ballast to go bad and having to replace on a frequent basis. How can this be normal for any headline to allow that much moisture inside? examined it extensively and confined no cracks. Do you think it would be helpful to replace the removable headlight seal? See below

Update on mine was that after replacing the rear cap which had a broken clip, I've had no problems. There is a thick rubber seal on that, so its clearly meant to be water-tight. I think higher speed driving in the rain would push water into it. Done 6 months ago, no problems. Will see after next winter season. Still, the other had minor problems which i think is just condensation which clears after driving a bit

 

That removable seal isn’t the issue. The sealant between the lens and housing is what goes bad and leaks.

Your choices are:
Replace the headlight assembly with a new one $$$$$

Remove the headlight and go through the trouble of removing the lens from the housing (not super easy) and reseal using butyl rope. Permanent repair but very intimidating. Watch some utube videos about how to do this. Heating the unit in the oven to 200 helps but must be done several times.

Remove the headlight, clean very thoroughly and using some high quality sealant, seal all along the joint where the lens meets the housing. Easy to do but may not be permanent.
