I have a 2016 GTS with 21" wheels. Currently I have N Spec Michelin Latitude tires (295/35/21) that perform well in the wet and dry weather but the tread life is pretty poor at around 12-14k miles and are useless in any type of snow or ice.
I was hoping for some recommendations on an all-season type tire that would preferably also be an N spec and have a longer tread life and more grip in bad weather than the Latitudes all while remaining very quiet.
The Latitudes are silent from new to the wear bars and handling is very precise with no sway or flex ion the sidewalls.Any suggestions or recommendations?
Not sure about the Nspec designation but I just swapped out the Michelin Lattitudes on my 2012 CTT for the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 in 295/35/21. Perfect timing too.
In the past 2 weeks I have tested these here in the Northeast in a Snow storm, Ice storm and Slush storm. I can attest these tires are solid in these conditions. They can't compare with
a dedicated snow tire, but are a great all around all season tire. I also run these tires on my Audi A7 with the same confidence.
I have heard good things about DWS06 but some complain about soft side walls or lack of turn in and noise as the tires wear. Any truth to this? I drive my car fairly hard and appreciate the characteristics of N spec tires (Porsche approved) Once I owned a 957 GTS that had Toyo Proxes ST111 and it was a horrible combination. Like driving a drunken 3 legged donkey. Don’t want to go there again
I'm running 20" UHP AS Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate on my CS. Solid tire, good turn in, excellent in the wet, stored for the winter in favor of Hakka R3 winter tires. The Goodyear is noticeably higher performance tire than the DWS06+ I run on the Q7.
Downside? I don't believe that Goodyear has this model tire in a 21" size. ICBW.
Previous thread on this, many go to Michelin sport 4 SUV in 285/40 -21 for more comfort. This is not an all season but if you plan to use in winter and snow, a 285/40 would be better.
narrow tire good for snow
wide soft tire good for sand/beach
I just put on Vredestein wintrac pro for the winter in that size and I’m a big fan so far on the price / performance. Maybe take a look at some of their offerings
On my second set of Continental Xtreme Contact DWS 21” tires
Just replaced my first set of DWS tires after 30,000 miles with another set of the same on my 2013 Cayenne Turbo. 295/35-21inch. I’m not a performance driver so I can’t speak to their track worthiness, but they handle just fine for my needs. They are quiet - I’m surprised that some find them noisy. They handle snow as well as can be expected for such wide tires. I had these on my Mercedes SL 550 as well, so yes, I’m a fan. I also avoid the hassle of switching to winter tires, but that’s my preference - others are fine with switching tires for winter season.
Continental Xtreme Contact DWS gets my thumbs up.

I had the DWS06's on my Cayenne and other cars before. They are ok. Have not tried the DWS06+ that recently came out. I went with Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season Plus (https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...=935YR1SZASPXL) and have really enjoyed them so far. Solid three season performance, and they feel good under foot. Similar warranty to the Conti's.
Also went from the Latitude Sports to the Contis - the Michelins are quieter for sure but they don’t last at all. At least the Contis have a 50k mile warranty instead of 20k.
Thanks for all of the great feedback, advise and recommendations. One thing is for sure, everyone wants something different from a tire. I realize that excessive tire noise can be caused by poor alignments or worn parts so it is always difficult to say one tire is noisy and the other one is not. Tire technology changes quickly and older posts are not always valid or even some of the tires recommended are not even available any longer hence the reason for the question.
I had the DWS06+ on my S in 20's. They came highly recommended from Tire Rack but it was a huge mistake. They were not as quiet as the OEMs but even more importantly, they caused a vibration at highway speeds. I had them Hunter Road Force balanced which showed 2 tires were bad, 1 was on the edge, and the fourth was good. It literally took me about 3 months to get this resolved but I ended up with the Michelin Pilot Sports AS and absolutely love them. They are quiet and handle incredibly well. I haven't driven them in the snow so I can't comment on that aspect but otherwise it was a great choice and as far as I am concerned a major upgrade.
