Default Completely dead driver's seat

Let me start by saying I acquired my 2013 Cayenne S about a month ago and have been loving every minute driving the SUV. It is so nice to be back in a Porsche after a far-too-long break.

That being said, I am having my first bit issue, albeit self-inflicted.

The driver's seat was replaced with a seat from a salvage yard, last week. The leather was torn on the original seat and I figured it would be so much cheaper and quicker to just replace the seat with a like-for-like seat. Well, steadily, everything has been shutting down. First, the airbag light came on. Then, the heat/cool functions would not work. Then, the memory functions stopped. I was trying the "back and forth, up and down" operation to get the memory to start working again when the motors started shortening the seat track runs. Then, with the seat all the way back, the motors stopped altogether. No back and front, no up and down, no bolster, no lumbar, no recline.

I would be happy to swap the seats back to get the functionality back for now but, I can't move the seat to loosen the bolts or reach the electrical plugs. Is there any manual method of moving the seat?

Note: Since the new seat came from a wrecked Cayenne, it sounded like there were some tiny glass shards in the seat track. I wonder if the motor thinks the shards are the end of the track or whether the motor is actually dead?

I am curious how this was resolved. I want to put a 14 way seat in a 2014 958 which has the 8 way seat now. Please let me know how you figured this out.
Thanks,

I wanted to put 18 way seats in my CS, which has 14 way...but my buddy with the 18 way seats didn't want to swap. :{

I think it's for the best...I did some googling and found that there's some recoding necessary... If it were simple plug and play, that would be one thing...did that on a couple of Audis, moving from comfort to sport, but the electric and electronic configuration didn't change at all...

...but back to the OP's question...

Did you pull codes to see if anything is showing up? Have you checked fuses? How old is the battery?

Default Downside to re-coding the seat?

What's the downside to re-coding the seat? Just the expense? Any guess how expensive that is? In the market for a diesel and seeing lots with 8 way seats. I'd buy and upgrade with a salvage seat if it's possible and practical.

The recoding seemed overly complicated, and success didn't seem guaranteed.

I feel your pain...I had a number of criteria (air, pano, 14 or 18, roof rails, keyless, etc) and was open to either a CS or a CD. My CS popped up first, after three months of daily searches.

Thanks,
I had my local independent do the work. Turned out, the wiring harness shorted out. He fixed it and put the seat back in. Would not tell me how he got the seat out.
