Default Replacing the battery 2014 S

I'm new to Cayenne, just purchased a 2014 S. The battery seems sketchy so I need to replace it going into winter.
2 things I found on the interweb:
1) Apply power o the charging terminals to maintain memory, advisable or ill-advised?
2) I saw a youtube video demonstrating the use of an iscan to perform a "Porsche battery reset" what the heck is that and is it necessary?

Thanks for the help

Both points are correct. The first one is advisable, For the second point, usually you will enter battery information into Porsche, so the battery management system know which kind of battery is it and how to charge it correctly.
