Default Newbie: Is air suspension an option or standard on diesel?

Looking to replace my 2004 Touareg V8 with air suspension with a diesel; and the Cayenne is the best handling version on this platform (Treg only offers steel suspension in their T3 generation, and Q7 is too long).
I was under the impression that the air suspension is standardon the Diesel, but seen some center consoles missing the right (2nd) 'wheel selector' for ride height.

Air suspension is standard on GTS and Turbo. I *think* it's also standard on Platinum models.

On the Cayenne S it's an infrequently found option. On the base model, it's exceedingly rare.

And on the diesel and ehybrid, it's rare, but not impossible to find.

Just find to try a diesel with air, pano and roof rails. I was looking for one, along with some other options...14 or 18 way seats, etc, and found my CS first.

Hope this helps!

BTW, I had a '10 Touareg TDi with air...it was a nice option on that platform (also quite rare). When I was looking for it, people said "why *look* for that complicated option?" My response was "I already have an allroad in the stable, why not?"

VW bought it back and we replaced it with a '13 Q7 TDi. It's my wife's daily driver. I think the Cayenne cockpit might be overwhelming for her...she's a "cars as appliance" person...

Also, btw, not sure why you're not considering the Q7. It doesn't *drive* like it's too long...it *does* drive differently than the Cayenne... Much tighter and better mannered than the T2 Touareg platform, not as responsive than the Cayenne...but if you found a Q7 Prestige TDi with Air...it would be a really nice alternative...and you are probably more likely to find a Q7 with air than a CD with air... Just saying...

Thanks!
What is easiest to spot 'air suspension' indicator? 2nd wheel on center console?

ALLRAOAD: ahhhh! Still trying to figure out how to do a "402 mod" on my (air) Touareg.

Correct! You won't have the ride height indicators and lever on the right side without air

And of course you will want to run any potential car's VIN through vinanalytics.com to see what other goodies are hidden in the build...

air was the number 1 option in my search. i was lucky enough to find a 2015 that has 35K+ in additional options! have not seen a similar one since. i did find a few others with air suspension but the hard horrific color combos.

i have this stuff in mine "2015 diesel cayenne premium plus, air suspension w/pasm, pano roof,18 way seats, adaptive cruise, blind spot detection, entry and drive, parking assist w/ rear cam, winter package w/ rear heated, summer package with ventilated seats and rear sunshades, hitch, 22" turbo III wheels, etc"

look nationally and you will find what your looking for!

Horrific color combos? White CD with bordello red leather in Chicago? Yuck.

I would have bought your CD in a heartbeat...virtually everything I was looking for (and mostly found on my CS...just missing the 18 way seats and adaptive cruise)...

White with red interior is actually a preferred package for me haha.

The worst I saw was blue with grey interior, no highlight color. Just a wall of grey. No real options besides air...

Oops.

Mine's black on black on black. Thinking about getting rid of the silver inside bits.
