I was visiting a Porsche page for some information on the PCM and according to the range of vehicles covered, mine should be.
It states Cayenne through model year 2017. Mine is 2016 so it should be included but the PDF has nothing even remotely familiar to me
and the images of the PCM screens are from newer models that I recognize from when I've had loaners.
When I log into Porsche and pull up my Cayenne, it offers Porsche Connected Services but when I click the link, it opens to another page, appears
like it might load something, then reverts to say The selected vehicle does not have Porsche Connect. You therefore cannot use any Porsche Connect Services.
I was trying to see what this slot is for and was hoping the manual might explain it. The manual shown mentions Appleplay but I don't have that, granted this is a
one size fits all manual and it is talking about vehicles so equipped but not one screen shot of the PCM or its menu looks anything like mine.
I was also hoping to find where I can order the most recent Navi map set but that information must be a closely guarded secret as I couldn't find so much as an honorable mention.
So, what is this slot for and where can I order a newer mapset, surely they have a newer one from 2016 for the Cayenne.
I think I read somewhere that it's a SIM card slot if you had a certain phone option, but it doesn't do anything or isn't active if the option wasn't specified originally.
I thought as much. It seems like a very out dated SIM slot for 2016. Looks like it takes the biggest SIM card there is. I tried the only two I have and both are way too small.
I'd like to know if it is a working feature I can activate. I'll check with my dealer tomorrow.
Well, it isn't a micro SD slot. The slot is 15.5mm wide or .6 inch while a micro SD is 11mm or .4 inch wide.
Trying to put the micro SD in, it's clear it will just fall down inside somewhere.
I called Porsche, the agent was clueless and I don't just mean about my Cayenne either.
I can see there are some contacts inside so it definitely appears to accept something, though it remains uncertain if mine has any hardware inside
connected to this slot.
You have to stop, my wife will hear me laughing my *** off and think I'm watching TV and not working! Then I won't be able to get out of trimming the hedges under the guise of needing to finish a few things for work!

Gotta remember that PCM 3.0 came out somewhere around 2011..
