Not sure. Where this is a will, there is a way. The battery in my S4 was in the trunk under the spare tire without compromising any trunk space. Far easier to access and replace.

Space must come from somewhere...either lower to the ground or reducing cargo area. The only reason under the seat makes sense to me is that this space is unused anyway.
The fuel tank is under the spare, or in my case, the hybrid battery so going below would mean being under the hybrid battery. Not a favorable scenario. Repositioning the hybrid battery
and redesigning the Cayenne to accept both the main battery and the hybrid in a side by side configuration would be possible but that would have cost much more and would not have
allowed Porsche to use the same petrol only body as a hybrid.
