I feel for all who want to upgrade. Regardless of how you do it, you’re dealing with generational PCM/NAVI issues. My 2009 bmw 135 was old school and required hours to update the database and software because it was on DVD format. I had the same experience recently updating my 2013 CD PCM Navi database, only via DVD (4 hrs). The new generation can be done over Wi-Fi/cell or via usb input. I update my 2015 m4 each semester via USB that takes about 45 minutes to complete. The tech drives what you can do with your existing system.
