What else to do when fixing diesel timing cover leak?
Looks like my 2011 diesel needs the timing cover replacing and sealing at 108,000 miles. How much else should be done while the engine is that far apart. It will be getting the replacement timing cover that is apparently stiffer, seems obvious to do the timing chains, guides and tensioners. The independent specialist doing the work is keen to replace the oil pump on the basis that he would historically have resealed it but apparently the seals are no longer available but at £600 including taxes it is quite a chunk. Is the original oil pump unlikely to last another 75,000 miles or more?
Anything else that should be done while the engine and transmission is out?

EGR cooler replacement perhaps? That's known to go bad and while the engine doesn't have to come out to fix it, ya might as well.

But whatever it is, replace that.
