Default Dealing with dealerships

Hi everyone. Hope all is well.

If you go to dealership to get oil changed and they give you laundry list of things that needs to be fixed(maybe it needs to be fixed, maybe it doesn’t) and say you GOTTA get this fixed NOW it’s BAD acting like a car salesman, what would be the intelligent way to get out of it unscathed. I don’t wanna **** them off. I don’t want to insult them. Some of them make you feel like you got the scarlet letter if you don’t get work done from them.

Hey thanks but I work on my own cars?

Tell them you have to go figure out your budget before you commit.

Consider that most SA's are on salary plus commission, the more they sell you the more they make. Just politely tell them thanks for the information and I'll reschedule the service at a later time. Then RUN away!

Just say "thanks for letting me know - I appreciate it. I'll be by at 4:00 to pick it up". If dealers didn't screw their customers with needless work at outrageous prices then maybe I'd feel good paying them to do my work.

Why are you going to the dealer for an oil change in the first place? No good indy shops near you?

really? 100%? I don’t believe that. They probably get salary+comm. I’ve never heard of such thing. Car sales, yes.

Oh- those $500 oil changes every 5,000 milles on Cayenne Diesel were down right abusive and I told them so. Never got around to looking for an Indy, but it was on my list.

I am suckered into the dealer for the "Porsche Long Life Warranty" which covers the long body corrosion warranty (which is a concern in certain parts), and to hopefully have some goodwill/take care of concerns under the Diesel warranty. Therefore every other year (Intermediate/Major) services I will have to get bent over for.

I hate how the dealership service team acts like they are doing you a favor... Porsche could take a lesson from Lexus, but they don't have to because, it's a Porsche.

Yes. They act like they are rich and I am poor when it’s the opposite just because I don’t act like rich a hole and I don’t show off and treat them respectfully and humbly. They’re cocky as ever so they might as well get 100% commission like the sales guys.

I just looked up some Porsche SA jobs. It depends on each dealerships it looks like. Some are looking for strong customer service background and others want “sales background preferred”.

Yea. My dealer just does what I ask. Never any up charging. And they deliver for free and I live 110 miles away. I have 5 other dealers closer and I just don’t care. They are the best.

My CPO ends in one month. After that. I’ll do an Indy for service.
