There are 2 sensors by the rear clamp to the muffler. Which one is the NOx 2 sensor? Is the connector hidden behind that heat shield?

Reviving this thread … the confusion / misinformation persists so let me ask again: which of the shown two sensors is responsible for the Fault Code P229F00 (Passive/ sporadic NOx sensor 2, bank 1…?

Which one is the NOx sensor (closer to the pipe clamp (?) and the other is pressure sensor (?)

Default 2013 Cayenne Diesel Nox code

I have a 2013 CD with 82k miles ands has some codes ,,,,
I am wanting to sell it but with the codes the car place said it was only an "auction car" and offered me $7500.
I have fixed most things that were after the diesel extended warranty .

I looked at the oldest code and it is for the bank 1 Nox sensor 2.

The real time data indicates the sensor 2 is off the scale compared with the sensor 1.
Also how can the sensor 1 have a negative value ?

My question is if I can get away with the VW or Audi sensor as I don't want to pay for the Porsche one.

Thanks in Advance, Bob.

To begin with, sensor-2 (distal as shown, after SCR) might start reporting high number (65K) until it gets to temperature but eventually it must be in lower 10’s…

Yes, you can use the VW/Audi NOx sensor (> half the price) but be sure to double check that the 958.1 and 958.2 use the same cable length (electrical connector). I ordered for my 958.2 from VW Dealer in VA. Part# 059-907-807-T (Continental, Made in Germany)

Let’s us know how it goes… good luck!

Sorry I have been off line as my laptop gave up.

I will go under the car tomorrow to eyeball the downstream NOx sensor to make it is connected Ok and looks alright.

I will also review my AllDataDIY info.

The one question I have is if the replacement NOx sensor will calibrate itself with some driving or do I need to have someone reset the code history ?

Hi Jascha-M,

I backed the car onto ramps and was easily able to identify the downstream NOx sensor.
I see the cable goes under a heat shield that I assume I will need to remove to access the control module.
I double checked and the NOx sensor has 7 wires , the same as the upstream one , whereas the other close sensor has 5 conductors and I think it is an O2 sensor..
I will try to get my AlldataDIY account going again to check on the replacement instructions.

I went into my AlldataDIY and can't see references to NOx sensors ... I am wondering if they were added for "dieselgate" but doubt it .

I will remove the heat shield that is covering the NOx sensor cable connection for the downstream NOx sensor..

I have a 2014 CD with the P229F00 code. I would be interested in getting a confirmation that the VW 059-907-807-T is in fact the correct sensor for the 958.1. I would also like to know what the Porsche part number is for this sensor. I've looked at the Porsche parts diagrams and just get more and more confused. They seem to call everything an O2 sensor, no mention of NOx.
