Just an observation, people often complain about the Corvette tax. It struck me as funny.

^^ (for 955) it's actually a massively overdesigned and built thing - the one pictured above must have weighed over 20lbs by itself (if not more). While it was sold as a dog barrier, I think it was designed to transport your favorite grizzly as well.

I'm going to speculate that if VW puts their ultrasonic motion sensors in the reading lights, Porsche does the same.

Porsche monitors window humidity to ensure no humidity builds up on the windows. The climate system automatically adjusts to ensure your windows stay humidity free. There obviously has to be sensors to monitor window humidity and maybe this is one of those sensors.

Yeah- that small rectangular bit is the ambient night light. Sit in the back at night and it provides enough light so rear passengers aren’t in the dark. Not to be confused with the push-button lighting next to it. And the hole of course is the cargo net socket for when the rear seats are down and the cargo net is connected to the ceiling.

Well my answer was a guess. So to confirm you go look at them at night. Makes sense.

To be confirmed at night... but it should be the "Orientation Light". Here is the wiring diagram:

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed wiring diagram. I will sit in the back seat at night and enjoy basking in the ambient light. Looks like an LED in there.

I prefer the guess it was a surveillance sensor, reporting back to Deep State of Porsche clan's Schuettgut in Zell am See.
