Does make me believe that OEM is best...
I bought mine so long ago I wouldn’t have the original link/ad. This is what they look like. There are tons of listing on eBay.

So question - I was able to source "Aluminum-clad rocker panels" option code VR5.

They look like they're similar to the VR1 option code "
Running boards" but I'm not sure. Anyone here know what the difference is?

Well I think they're different (the running boards seem like they extend significantly farther out) whereas based on the pictures these look like they'll give me just a few additional inches of "foot" room.

I believe those are considered something more like rock sliders that protect the underside of the car from rocks when going off road and aren't intended for making access easier. There have been recent posts lately about them.

Where did you get them?

It does appears to have some protrusion well past (or a few inches!) the stock rockers, which I’m hoping to leverage without having the real protrusion of the side steps.

It’s funny it came off a base Cayenne outfitted with a bunch of cool options including the quad tips (picked those up as well) and these. It also had the stainless skid plate front and rear - based on the install post-factory, I avoided those. For whatever reason, original owner spec’d their base with a MSRP of about $80k! Maybe the most expensive base out there...

If the car those came off of had the front skid plates as well, it probably had the off-road package.

It didn't show up in the options list of the car (whereas premium package does) - just two separate options for the alum rockers and the front and rear stainless skidplates. Also curious that they'd make the rockers out of alum and the skidplates out of stainless? I guess they don't expect the rockers to get dented and never be "fixed"?
