958 Cayenne DIY: change floor / footwell lights from yellow to white LEDs
Does your 958 Cayenne have yellow floor / footwell lights? Change them out to a nice bright white LEDs!
part number? (QTY 4 needed for this DIY)
5G0 947 409
5G0947409
I believe these are generic W5W LED blubs. I was able to find them generic on eBay for around $15 a pair
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-LED-Foot...9/113857538903
or you can by the OEM VW / Audt part here: (I think this is priced as a single)
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ach/5g0947409/
another option (I think this is for 4 of them. NOTE: if you are doing the glove box you need 5)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32823738760.html
Tools needed
- small flat head screwdriver
- flashlight
- pick pry tool (optional, see picture)
steps / tips
1) Move your floor mats out of the way (get extra space)
2) When working in the front seat footwell, put the seats all the way back. When working on the rear seats, move the front seats all the way forward to give you a larger work area
3) the light / housing is covered by a piece of black plastic boarder trim. I threaded the light thru the trim to remove it, then placed the trim on the replacement light.
4) when removing the lights, pry them out but be carefully not to snap any parts off. Take your time.
5) after light /housing is removed, note there is almost no excess wire, So use a flathead screwdriver to pop them off. There is a small clip holding them.
6) test each light as you go, prior to popping the housing back into place. (so light should be dangling / hanging down)
7) repeat for all four lights & enjoy
TIME for DIY: 1st light? 10+ mins , follow up lights 5-10 mins. each
COST: $30 USD (+ tax / s/h) for generic lights
original part / light was metal housing
generic part / light is a black plastic
sidenote: I have not tackled the glovebox light yet but heard the light might be similar part.
metal housing is original part, black plastic was the replacement
NEW bright white LED footwell / floor light
OLD / original yellow footwell / floor light

Here are the factory parts, by way of China (this is what I used for the foot wells and the glove-box. They have all the marking etc, probably came from the original factory): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32823738760.html
