found this interesting & thought I would share.... clearly "pre" dieselgate fix mpg #s
When thumbing though this book, this caught my eye...

Cayenne Diesel
Urban (in mpg) = 36.2 - 37.2
Extra urban (in mpg) = 45.6 - 47.1
Combined in mpg) = 41.5 - 42.8
CO2 emissions (in g/km) = 179 - 173

That seems way off, as the stated max range of the car was like 770 miles on a full tank, which is just a little over 26 gal I think..

I've driven my car from OR to TX on multiple occasions and am getting 27mpg or slightly better during such long-distance highway trips.
Ironically, I am getting 24mpg with my Pannie Turbo S on the same route. Guess which one was more fun ?

It is why the VAG was fined to the tune of some $25 billion USD, for lying and cheating in Dieselgate, this is but another example of the cheat/lie.
Are you sure that is not from a Euro-Porsche book where their gallons are larger than the US gallon? and they have the V8 diesel?

Imperial MPG's are always more than US MPG's. Several folks hit the nail on the head with this one. Imperial gallons are being reference here, not US gallons, hence the higher mileage numbers.

This makes sense that these calculations are in imperial gallons, I had to look a few things up.
I thought Great Britain starting selling fuel in liters in the 80s? but i guess not all of their former colonies / territories have converted. This book is still kinda of entertaining...

One imperial gallon is equivalent to approximately 1.2 U.S. liquid gallons.
The U.S. dry gallon is a measurement historically applied to a volume of grain or other dry commodities.
