Default On Board Air Setup (Suggestions?)

Where I am geographically I get the ability to drive on Ocean beaches. The beaches here have very soft sand and driving on it requires airring down the tires. Id like to install a compressor, and possibly a small tank to reinflate the tires so I dont have to rely on the public use compressors (which often break down, or have incredibly long lines or both) to air up for the drive home.

Ultimately im just wondering if anybody has ever installed a compressor and where they did it?

Edit:
I am considering getting something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KEVN00/ref=twister_B00YD4IRRM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KEVN00/ref=twister_B00YD4IRRM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I was just hoping there might be somewhere I can access battery power in the trunk without running my own wires.

Why not just use a good viair compressot and keep in in the trunk. Im not seeing the point of a hard install

Im usually more of a hard install, easy to use type person. I was considering the idea of something i could take in and out of the truck. I really just wanted to see if anyone had a more permanent setup

Also, the battery terminals arent exactly easily accessible so having something a bit more permanent seems to make a bit more sense in my opinion. Unless there was a way to access some decent power wires off the battery that were in the trunk or something. So you could connect the compressor to it quickly and easily.

I would probably go the removable route and use the jump points under the hood with some alligator clips. Smittybuilt makes what looks like a decent setup for about $125.

Im really try to avoid using the jump points under the hood, mostly for paint damage reasons.

I'd recommend this: it's effective, relatively cheap, compact, can use your cig lighter plugs throughout the car... quite an easy solution to your situation.

I want something a bit more robust than a cigarette lighter setup. I also like the idea of having a tank because it makes the whole process a lot faster

Have you thought about a portable air tank? https://www.harborfreight.com/5-gall...4aAk0NEALw_wcB

as far as I know, you could hard wire (fused) a ViAir compressor to the battery, bolt it to the trunk floor, and get a long hose that would reach all four wheels.

Amazon Amazon

To do a clean install though, you'd have to disassemble a fair bit of the car and find a place to store the hose. I'm not sure how the tank is faster than a compressor direct to the tire.

OP - go check out the Jeep forums with the guys that do the Jeep Jamborees and rock crawling and all that. We used to be heavily into that and a ton of people had really slick on-board air compressor setups.

So theres no good power wires to tap into thatre already in the trunk? I guess Im really just looking for a decent power source where i dont have to run wires to and from the battery.

I have a bunch of friends that have setups like this in wranglers, and old cherokees and even one in an allroad. I was just looking to see if anybody did anything specifically with these cars.

thats a big boy and will draw a lot of amps when working. While you may be able to get switched power from the trunk, you're gonna need some thick cable back there (think jumper cable size), which I'm not sure there is.
