Default 2014 CD DIY 5K Maintenance

I did the annual DIY maintenance (Mobil 1 ESP oil, Mahle OX420D filter, 059115611AM dipstick, tire rotation, BOSCH 3397009034 wiper blades, 1 gallon Kleen DEF) on my 2014 CD today and have a few observations. My wife drives it and we only put on about 5K miles a year, currently at 32K miles.

The dipstick did need to have the top half of the yellow loop cut off for the engine cover to fit. It seems to read correctly with 7.3 litres of oil added.

The wipers are the easiest wipers I've ever changed. They are 26", which is what Rock Auto had listed, but are probably an inch longer than what was on there. I bought the Cayenne used, so I don't know the history. They seem to operate just fine.

The Porsche wheel hanger pins (9A7-007-733-00-OEM) are definitely nice to have.

The Fumoto F106SX valve I installed last oil change certainly makes the job much easier and less messy when used with the hose kit. I drained the oil into a couple of 5 quart Quaker State bottles I had and hardly spilled a drop. Even filled the Blackstone oil sample bottle from the hose with no hassle.

I noted that I will need front brake pads in the near future. I have already purchased rotors, pads, caliper bolts and caliper support pins. I have the 14mm triple square bit for the bolts, but I'm wondering if I need a socket to fit the 10 point bolts on the each side of the caliper. Can anyone give me an answer on that?

Excellent Job.

To answer your last question.
The 2 bolts on top of the caliper are the only ones needed to be loosen.
Lift caliper up and suspend. Pry out pads.
There are some You Tube videos that may show step by step procedure.

Nope. I removed the bolt on the backside of the knuckle (10mm head I think? Could be wrong) to give the lines more freedom of movement - I hate putting any bending force on the hard lines!

Don't forget to also snag a pair of brake pad wear sensors. as cheap as they are, it's not even worth screwing with the old ones to try and re-use them. PAGID part # 355251921 (they are the single short wire, not the double wire)

Agreed. Plus you will most likely break the wire or the end at the pads when you remove the old ones.

Regarding the 10 point socket I was asking about, I have a crappy picture of my caliper, and one I snagged from eBay of a similar caliper. I marked the bolts I'm talking about on both pictures. Do I have to remove those to replace the pads?

Whatever you do...don't even think about removing those bolts. Just look at them and be assured they don't need to be removed for anything. Only bolts you need to remove are the ones on top of the caliper. The pads are fixated underneath as opposed to previous models that let you top load.

Looks like someone's piggy let one loose on the garage floor...so glad I have an extractor to keep the mess literally non existent.

That was my first oil change, pre-Fumoto valve, I had oil everywhere and on everything. My second oil change was virtually spill and drip free.

German cars are full of these bolts. Mercedes especially. You will need it; just not for this job. Maybe cleaning the intake.
