Quickjack People - Frame Extensions for 958
Hey guys,
I'm currently working on custom fabbing a set of frame extensions for the Quickjack platform. As some of you are aware, the extensions made by Quickjack do not extend past the 7000 series jack points (and are about 3-4" shy of what we need for a proper lift. Some have had results with turning the jacks sideways, but that method isn't always ideal for certain types of undercarriage work. I've heard the 6000 series make it, but then you're stuck with a jack that is too long for your other toys (911's, etc). I'm writing to gauge interest in these, as I am working with a friend who owns a fabrication shop and can turn out some very professional and safe alternatives to what is currently available. Cost will be no higher than $500/pair, and hopefully a good bit lower if I can get a group-buy going. Thanks for looking! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...a5fa761dd4.jpg 2"x2.75" steel used, same as quick jack https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...06e5a5a235.jpg Antiskid blocks sit in quickjack pockets to ensure no sliding https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...f0e8030071.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...e4b5a4265e.jpg Rubberized tape will be applied to the bottom to prevent metal to metal contact https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...37cc23acb2.jpg Extensions will be primered and painted gloss black to match existing unit. |
I might be interested.

I might be also. Just ordered the QJ 5000SLX. plan on just using it sideways on the cayenne for now though.

damnit. all the measuring I did on 4 different cars and I ordered the wrong one! I guess I'll get the frame extenders. I thought I ordered the 66" one.
Now the question is, frame extenders or just use two long 4x4s? edit. ordered the extension from summit racing, as they are local and have it in stock. |
The 66'' should fit sideways, that's the one with the extensions. The regular 5000SLX is 60'' max span and it doesn't fit sideways, I've tried.

yeah, with all the measurements, I got confused. anyway, have the extensions on order. Glad you pointed that out or I would have been really frustrated when attempting to do the brakes next weekend.

I am interested too.

Update: Did a little work today on the project. Let me know what you guys think!

Correct. It was tight even with the 7000 series I have... and it still felt sketchy to me lifting it that way. Gets too close to pinching stuff under the car like the fuel tank and cross members, and using blocks makes the whole rig unstable. |

Unfortunately, the extensions will only get you to the length of the 7000 series, which won't be long enough. They miss by a few inches. This is why I embarked on this project. ;) |

Looking good. Any pics with the Cayenne on it?
If we go through this, first thing I'll do is put the Cayenne up, just off the ground, with the extensions, and leave it there for a couple of days to see whether the extensions are holding up. |

Beat ya to it. :) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...62a2f8215c.jpg Went up for about 5 hours yesterday https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4c1080bead.jpg Deep cleaned the wheels and brakes, cleared my (clogged) cowl drains https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...8d1d8046b4.jpg Rags there to keep the metal off the metal. Havent added a rubber/felt barrier yet. Working on that. Slight overhang of just about an inch. Next to no stress on the extensions. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...2fa9198534.jpg Next to zero flex. The overhang is at a maximum here, minimum overhang in previous photo. |
Ok so if I have a 14 Boxster S and a 12 Cayenne TT should I get the 5000 or 6000 series and add the extensions.
