2015 Cayenne S OR 2016 Cayenne

I'm in the market for a 2015 Cayenne S with 26K miles for about 44K, with a lot of upgrades (mostly to the interior). I'm comparing that to several 2016 Base Cayennes with the premium package. Usually that comes out to about the same, 42-44K. The 2016 Base comes from a porsche dealership, and is Certified. The 2015 Cayenne S doesn't come from a porsche dealership and is not certified.
Which one do people on this board recommend? My primary concern is reliability. The 2015 has me intrigued because of all the bells and whistles and the fact that its an S. The 2016 is certified and is one year newer. Are there any major reliability differences between the 2015 and 2016? or between the S and base?

958 Base Cayenne is the only Base model in the Porsche line up that I wouldn’t buy. It’s slow. Any Base SUV from BMW or Mercedes will run circles around it. 2019+ Cayenne Base is a different story.
My money would go to the 2015 “S” it’s such a nice drive.

Literally just traded my ‘16 base for a ‘16 S a few days ago. Go for the S, but there are better deals out there. I bought my 2016 S with same miles for the same price as that 2015.
And yes, go for a fidelity platinum warranty. You have until 30 days AND 1000 miles from factory warranty expiring to purchase it, although it is pretty costly.

My dealer buddy tells my you can buy the fidelity warranty at any time you want, but if you don't do it within the 30 days then you have a 30 day period after you buy it where you are not covered. Make sense?

Correct. I got a 4 year 48k mile Fidelity Platinum for my ‘15S after it had been out of warranty for a year. In the contract there is a 30 day clause (and I think it also says 1,000 miles, but not positive). Came to $4,700 or so. Bought from Michael at Mossey Motors (great experience despite being 1,800 miles away. Super easy).

I purchased my 2011 Cayenne S with a CPO and had the Fidelity added on in January 2017. My CPO expired at the beginning of the year so now I am reliant on the Fidelity. Fidelity is nothing near a CPO. CPO covers almost everything down to having a air conditioning switch fixed while the Fidelity will not cover a coolant pipe that sprung a leak (experienced both). But, Fidelity is about the best you can get outside a dealership warranty.

Personally, I prefer to buy CPO from a dealer. They have inspected the vehicle, and they are adding factory bumper to bumper. Between the S and base, I would rather have an S. The base will definitely do what you want. The S just sounds better, and has that Porsche power when you need it. If neither of those matter, why pay more for the S? I have a diesel, and there are things I like and things I don't, but every vehicle is a compromise. My 2015 CPO diesel and it will probably have 30,0000 miles on it when the weekend ends. I am toying with selling it and getting a GTS. However.....I like my diesel warranty (ends August 2025), and I am not sure I want to pay for the GTS as much as I love "the look."
The CD doesn't have the performance of the GTS or the fantastic looks and exhaust sound. My concern is that after I have it a while, I'll ask myself, "was it really worth the extra $ to be in this GTS?"
Personal preference. If I ever ventured beyond a dealer for a pre-owned car. I would need to know their reputation is good, and I would want the service records. Then I would price in the Fidelity warranty to my decision.
