What does Cayenne E2 mean?

I pulled up the build sheet on a 2012 Turbo. It says "2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E2"

What does E2 mean?

Production is 12/1/2011
Car was sold 3/2012

Is this like a launch edition?

Yep, start of the 958 gen (2011).

Cayenne E2 is the 958.1 gen (2011-2014). Cayenne E2 II is the 958.2 gen (2015-2018).

The whole E2 II thing is odd. Even more so since 2017-18 have several subtle changes, E2 II.5?

Yeah it's interesting....I'm not sure what criteria Porsche uses to determine such things.
