Update:

Last week I insisted that the service manager at my local Porsche store drive my car with me in the passenger seat. He confirmed the issue and indicated that it was very common in the VR6 engine Cayennes. The issue is apparent even with the car in park when revving the engine between 1,100-1,800 rpm. We experienced it more in just the seats when parked, and found it also evident throughout the cabin when driving. Some cars, like mine, had it much worse than others. He confirmed it was related to the exhaust system, and while he has been able to improve the issue on many Cayennes he has never successfully eliminated it completely. Their attempts were all trial and error included changing various clamps and brackets on the exhaust system followed by test drives to determine levels of success. They tried this and were unsuccessful in my car, so are now awaiting PCNA to approve a replacement of the entire exhaust system. I hope that works. Will advise further as soon as I know more.

I had a rattle ~1400-1600 rpm, off gas (when coasting), that was fixed under warranty. It was the flex joints on the exhaust. But this doesn’t sound like the problem you guys are having.

Update:
Finally got my Cayenne back. PCNA would not authorize a new exhaust system, only a few “adjustments” and new clamps. The problem is still present, albeit it does feel slightly less pronounced (maybe 5-10% better.). PCNA indicates that this is normal with the VR6 and this exhaust system so they have washed their hands of the matter. That’s a disappointing position but I’ll let it sit for a while and maybe start complaining again in a while to revisit the matter.

Our Cayennes have a V6 engine. Where does the "R" come in? What makes it a VR6?

The vr6 is the volkswagen very narrow angle V6. Its not a traditional V6 as it has a single cylinder head that covers both banks. The r is actually for the german word for inline engine as the VR6 is basically a combination of a V-engine and an inline engine. interesting stuff

A simple google search of VR6 will give you all the info you could desire.

You have to wonder why Porsche keeps putting out cars with flaws in their design

The buzzing sound is the rattling, which I think is coming from the instrument panel, caused by the vibration everytime I give it load between 1800 and 2000rpm. Vibration seems to be most strongly felt in the steering and somewhat in the pedals so I'm assuming its coming from the front of the car/engine.
I do have the same issue in my 2014 cayenne diesel, what was the problem? Did you get it solved??
