Give up 997 for CTT?
hey folks,
I have a first world “problem” that I’d like to get your input on. I’ve owned a great 997 C2S for about 4 years now and have an Audi A6 as my daily driver that is coming off lease soon. With my daughter getting older (eg less able to fit in back seat of the 911) and the 911 sitting more and more, I’m contemplating consolidating vehicles and going to a 2015 CTT. Has anyone else made a similar move? Any regrets / other thoughts?
I’ve driven a couple turbos and while silly fast (better acceleration than my 997), and very posh, I don’t get the “specialness” of the drive like I do in the 997 (6spd). I know I can always come back to a 911 down the road, but having a hard time pulling the plug on it. If I went with an older turbo or an S, I could keep the 911.

I exchanged my 997tt for a cayenne s. its a nice suv and will eventually tow my boxster track car, but it doea not in any way replicate the experience of a manual 911. i still have my 993 and boxster to drive, but if i didnt, id be pretty bummed out

Keep the 911, sell the audi and get a CTT for your new daily. That's your best bet.

I have a 16 CTT. I have had a 997S. The first thing, it is not a 911, period. It is a wonderful SUV that has a lot of power and comfort. It is the best of the best of SUVs in my opinion, as i have had the AMGs and the X5M, but is not a replacement, as it doesn't have that visceral feel that a rear engine 911, 964, 993, 997, or 991 has.

I have an 09 C2S and just purchased a 2013 CTT. Both awesome. I would never sell the C2S and if it came down to the two I would sell the CTT before parting with the C2S. The CTT is fast, powerful and posh. It is a pleasure to drive, the interior comfort is second to none and it spins heads wherever I go. But that 911 is really special. Porsche did it right when they put the 997.2 together. Perfect mix between old school spartan feel of the air cooled and luxury of the newer tourers. IMHO

Between my 997.2 GT3 and my 958 CTT,... there is no way in hell I'm selling the 997 over the Cayenne.
Keep the 911. Your daughter will soon move to the front pass seat anyway!! (& then if like mine, to the drivers seat!!)

I had a 997 C2S and a CTT. Agree withh of the folks above, in that a CTT is not replacement. But is an amazing vehicle, and it will fill some of the fun, but not all.

If you need to get a SUV, and you need get rid of the 911 to do it, and you do not need a huge SUV, consider the Macan S or Turbo. I've had one as a loaner for the last three days as my CD gets worked on. The Macan handles great, sounds great, and is overall awesome. I find myself driving it like I drive my 911. I drive my Cayenne in a spirited fashion, but I am really having a blast driving the Macan. I'd have a Macan in a second if I didn't need the Cayenne to tow (the 911).
Good compromise if you can't have both.
