Default PCM Question

now that it’s gotten cold, my satellite radio produces no sound other than an electrical crackle until the car warms up. The other sources work just fine from cold.

Any ideas why this is happening and only on the sat radio? Thx!

The antenna is up on the rear spoiler. Wonder if the connection to it, or the module itself, is having trouble with the cold? iirc, the control module is tucked in the right-rear quarter panel.

I swear mine gets wonky if there's been a lot of rain. Not dead, just more likely to lose a signal temporarily, when there's none of the typical reasons for signal loss (trees, overpass, etc).

How quickly does it 'warm up'? Because if it's within a minute or two I'd be inclined to think it's the module. Perhaps there's a solder joint or other component in module that's brought back to life as the rest of the board heats up. But if it's longer than that then I'd start to think about the antenna or the connection to it.

Thanks for the response. The pcm shows a signal along with the data for the particular station. So I believe it’s gettivg adequate signal. What else could it be?

Hmm, I've never had a reason to look into how sat radio gets into the PCM. In reviewing a schematic I've got it seems to indicate the SDARS antenna goes right into the PCM. So I may be mistaken about a module being separate. If it feeds the signal right into the PCM then the radio->audio is in there too. Making it a potential problem in the PCM unit itself. I know nothing of detail for the PCM3 and prior models. Anyone else have suggestions?

I tried attaching a picture but it doesn't want to work. See if it shows up via this link:
