Default Cayenne Diesel Softronic Tune Experience?

I was browsing various Porsche aftermarket parts sites due to some of the Black Friday offerings and noticed Softronic offers a flash for the CD's and with claims of ~80HP/80TQ gains with no other mods, I am intrigued. Has anyone had any first-hand experience with a Softronic flash on your CD? I searched and could not find any posts or threads that spoke to Softronic experience specifically for the Diesels. I may reach out to them to inquire but figured I would start here to try and seek out anyone that has done this already.

Malone and Rawtek have been tuning the 3.0 TDI for many years, and have a solid reputation, I hadn't heard of Softronic before.

Yeah, I know those names are the big ones for the diesels. Softronic is known in the 911/Cayman/Boxster realm. Just curious if anyone had gone with their diesel tune.

How many folks are willing to void their warranty with an aftermarket tune?

If Porsche maintains the stance of "thats just how it is now" and a tune becomes available that is able to be flashed in via OBD and fixes the drivability in the hot weather I'd definitely consider it.

So I actually inquired today with Softronic by email and almost immediately (<20 mins) received a call from Scott to discuss. According to him, a Porsche dealer would not be able to detect a "performance" flash since it is an OBD flash and not a bench flash which would involve removal of the ECU (this is apparently what they would look for; tampering/removal of the ECU). You could flash back to stock before going to the dealer if you so choose and they would be none the wiser.

I also asked if pre vs. post fix would matter and he said the car would essentially perform as if it were a pre-fix with a tune, no other mods necessary. Correct me if I am wrong but I do think the "fix" came with some different transmission characteristics though so not sure what the combination of the two (tune + fix) would feel like.

His description is exactly the same as his commentary on some other threads/forums which at least means the information is consistent. It is still up to you to weigh the potential risk you think you may expose yourself to if/when flashing. He was very helpful and had a lot of information so if you are curious and want more discussion, give them a ring.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but will update here if I do end up going the Softronic route.

The TCM is also reprogrammed during "diesel fix." I don't buy the it will perform just like prefix with a tune story. People have reprogrammed TCM and have reported that drivability is much improved as well.

The dealer can tell if it's been flashed through the OBD port easily. The ECU logs how many times its been flashed and it also logs peak torque values. Both will go up with a flash. Also you'd need to flash the TCU to get proper "pre-fix" performance.

There's no way I'd flash our CD until the warranty has expired.

Bringing this back. Anyone ever try the Softeonic tune for their CD? Scott has a great reputation but curiosity to hear first hand experience.

Greta doesn't have a good rep among those who modify their cars... (Sorry, couldn't resist)

I don't know about the Softtronic tune for a CD, but I certainly can attest to the quality of Scott's tune for my 2009 CTTS. It is simply stellar and makes my CTTS a monster without any side effects...except for the mileage when the tune is turned on!

Scott is great to work with and a gentleman to boot. If I buy my better half a CD, which may happen when the insane used car prices correct, I will go with Scott's tune with zero hesitation.

Cheers,
Tom
