Just to close my loop on this. I had this exact symptom and after my local indie changed a couple of bits we established which resolved it.
First the 'easier' of the coolant temp sensors was changed - this did not fix it
Second the coolant level sensor was replaced, i.e. the one in the coolant header tank - this did fix the issue.
