955 turbo. Every time I check for codes for any reason, I get a code for over boost. It is always a stored code that doesn't trigger a check engine light.
Lately, I have been noticing threads where people mention that they aren't seeing enough boost. Some people say that even under WOT, they don't see full boost on the gauge.
Everytime I get in the boost (even at 3/4 throttle), I peg the gauge. At WOT, I am at full boost on the gauge all the time.
Is it possible that I have a bad wastegate? Is it possible I have the E81 package and don't know it. It is not on the build sheet.
No other problems. Not that too much boost is a problem.
Thoughts?

It can only be 1 of 2 things: You really have overboost (pressure never regulated) OR the sensor has failed so that it shows overboost all the time with even a small amount of turbo pressure. It would take instrumentation to tell what the boost pressure really is... only way I can think of to tell what the real issue is. If you never see intermediate boost pressure on the gauge, the sensor would be the more likely failure (a small amount of pressure could cause the sensor to send a "full range" signal as if the turbo is providing boost over 100% of normal maximum). You COULD, presumably, find the sensor used to determine boost pressure and replace it (that might be less expensive than having the problem diagnosed with instrumentation by a shop, depends on how expensive the sensor is, also depends on how accessible the sensor is, may or may not be DIY, and whether calibration of the sensor is needed after it is replaced) to see if the problem is elminated. There are a number of online sources for replacement parts that are much less expensive than Porsche dealer parts prices. Pelican Parts, AutohausAZ, and others for example. In a lot of cases, they stock the part made by the original supplier but without Porsche ever handling the part... prices can be as little as 50%-80% off Porsche dealer prices.
