Default Very rough handling at slow speeds

Hi,
I have a Cayenne S 2006 and for a while, it has had very rough handling at slow speeds. Almost like driving over rubble. I just had the spark plugs and coils replaced so it's not that. After replacing the plugs, the car has more power and picks up quicker but the rough handling is still there.

The downshift happens almost with a jerk (exaggeration) and after that, the car is just louder and feels more rough. I am usually coasting at this point at 5-10 mph.

Anyone else have similar experience? Would love to hear some ideas.

Are you sure you are describing your issue with the right words? "Handling" refers to how a vehicle feels and grips in corners and when changing direction. Ride quality is how the car feels driving over various surfaces... smooth pavement, bumpy pavement, dirt/gravel, etc.

It's also important to understand whether the problem is coming through the wheels/tires and suspension, or whether you are talking about the engine, or transmission, or transfer case/differential causing the shaking or vibration you are feeling.

It is incredibly hard to figure out what you are describing, but I am going to take a stab and guess that it is your motor mounts due to some of the key points and perhaps also a transmission valve body that is acting up.

How many miles on the car?

Well, I am sure it can be described better. Let' see. When I am coasting at low speeds or coming to a stop, the car has a hiccup or a hard shift from 3 to 2, and right after downshift, it feels heavier/louder/not so smooth/ rough ride. At high speeds, typically above 45 mph, the ride is absolutely smooth.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I will look into the motor mounts tip. The car has 86K on it. I am sorry I didn't describe it better, but its quite pronounced of a change when the car shifts from 3 to 2 when coming up to a red light. Hope that helps.

Yep, the diagnosis stands. You have two issues:

1. Bad motor mounts
2. Rebuild your transmission valve body

Thanks. I will look into it. Any idea on the approximate cost of repairs?
